Community engagement in Gary, IN

it starts with one…

After seeing an accessible launch in Michigan City, Indiana, experiencing being in the water in a canoe as a recreational activity it became natural to present the idea to the City of Gary of us being next. It was up to us, the community to raise the funds need, submit the plan for review and aproval to the City, write grant proposals, and see project executed from concept, start to finish.

We did this together, we can all feel proud, take a short break for a week or two, and then ask what is next?

Throughout the summer and autumn months together with NWIPA we will be hosting Sunset Paddle on Thursday evenings. Our nearby communities are invited to take part.
