For far too long the word ‘Disability’ has caused fear, panic, concern. Individuals who have lived with some form of impediment have continued to work hard to change minds, policies, structures and more. In the USA the Americans with Disabilities Act, better known as the ADA just celebrated 25 years of its passage. With the advancement of technology, changes in attitudes, increased awareness and opportunities, we will come to see that people of all abilities can participate when barriers are eliminated and inclusion is part of everyday life.
This month in the City of Gary, Indiana we will have activities throughout the week to raise awareness.
