Our Mission

it starts with one:

One idea, one dream, one heart, one set of hands, one person.  It starts with one, one little seed, but it grows into something amazing: a thriving, vibrant community.

What We Do

Causes for Change International seeks to build strong communities by providing the tools for self-sufficiency.  Causes impacts the lives of women, children and persons with disabilities in the Americas through volunteerism.  Our work is primarily in the areas of health, education and economic independence. Causes continues to link volunteers and resources with community members in Ecuador. We have just begun to work with the countries of Panama and Costa Rica.  We are very excited about the new possibilities emerging in these areas.

Some of our ongoing projects include: the distribution of clothing, toys and supplies to schools and orphanages; the donation of hearing aids, wheelchairs, health and dental exams; and also fire rescue training for volunteer firefighters.  And that’s just the beginning.

Our Principles

True Voluteerism

None of our staff takes a paycheck. Ever. Not even the founder and CEO, Zully JF Alvarado. All volunteers pay their own way on Mission Trips.

Sustainable Change

We make no changes that can’t be supported and continued long after we’re gone. We set up infrastructures and systems that can be implemented in the community The goal is to help until we are no longer needed.

Dignity is a Human Right

No one should ever be made to feel inferior because of a disability or poverty. We help unearth the dignity that’s still there, just buried beneath the surface.

Start Small, Dream Big

Remember, it starts with one. Then it grows. And keeps growing. One brick, one dollar, one voice at a time; we are growing into a thriving, international network dedicated to helping those in need.

If we can start small, so can you. Help out, give what you can, whether it’s money, surplus dental supplies or even just a few hours of your time. Causes will always find a way to put your unique talents and resources to good use.
