    Making history in Chicago.

Applications to the inaugural class of the ADA 25 Chicago Leadership Institute for People with Disabilities are due in just three weeks – on August 15. Please help us find sixteen outstanding emerging leaders with disabilities of all types to participate in this retreat-style transformative leadership experience.

The intensive training will take place December 3-6 in downtown Chicago. Application and nomination materials are here: http://ada25chicago.org/partners/leadership-institute-for-people-with-disabilities/

The ideal candidate will have 7 to 12 years of leadership and/or management experience in any context, will have demonstrated leadership skills, and a passion for engagement in civic life.

Taught in a small learning community of 16 Fellows, this intensive training will focus on personal and group work aimed at exploring barriers and strengths, and mastering leadership skills. Financial need should not be a barrier to application or participation – the tuition (which is heavily subsidized by our donors) is $1500, but scholarships will be available for successful applicants.

The long term goal of this Leadership Institute is to change the game by increasing the diversity of Chicago’s civic leadership. It will create a pipeline of qualified people with disabilities qualified to serve on boards, commissions, appointments and career leadership positions. The inaugural Fellows class is the first step. It will lay the foundation for a network of leaders who can support each other as they bring diverse perspectives to the civic life of our region.

Take part in helping us identify and/or for nominating qualified candidates. Feel free to encourage them to apply using the information here. For more information don’t hesitate to contact CCI or ADA 25 Chicago Project Coordinator Robin Morrissey at rmorrissey@cct.org.
