Centro La Oruguita in San Jose, Costa Rica

Causes for Change International has partnered with Centro La Oruguita, also known as Casa-Escuelita. It is a center that provides services to children with hearing impairments. Centro La Oruguita was founded by Vilma Quijano, mother of an adult son with hearing impairments. Working as a language therapist, Mrs. Quijano saw a need for services in preparing this special population for school and their future livelyhood. She knows of the isolation experienced when capable people are excluded from society, and has invited Causes for Change International to provide training and support for Centro La Oruguita.CCI’s president and founder, Zully, will travel to Costa Rica in May to learn more about this project and others.
