Proyecto Daniel in San Jose, Costa Rica



Causes for Change International has partnered with Proyecto Daniel,  an association created to help Youth and  Adolescents in Costa Rica diagnosed with cancer and other critical illnesses.

In Costa Rica, once a youngster is 12 years old and 9 months, they are no longer seen as children, and they are not accepted at the Children’s Hospital.  They are sent to adult hospitals where they are treated and seen as adults.

Hospital San Juan de Dios founded in 1945  is granting the opportunity to remodel two rooms in the Oncology Department. It would accommodate five beds to start providing care to Youth and Adolescents with cancer. The goal is that it would be expanded towards meeting the critical care needs of Youth and Adolescents.
